About Matt Snyder, LICSW/LCSW

I was born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina before attending the University of South Carolina and graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in political science. Upon  graduation, I worked in the fine dining restaurant industries of Charleston, SC, and Washington, DC.  while I faced my own immense challenges.  During those years,  and the years after, I found some incredible therapists who helped change my life and motivated me to help people through therapy myself.  That journey led me to Boston, MA, where I attended Simmons University, the country's oldest clinical-specific social work school, and graduated with a Master's of Social Work (MSW).  During my studies, I was a clinical intern working with housing unstable high school students before shifting to work with the veteran population in both substance use and PTSD.  Upon graduation, I remained at that 2nd year clinical placement - Home Base, through Massachusetts  General Hospital & the Boston Red Sox - where I continued to help veterans, active duty service members, and their families in both the outpatient and intensive outpatient setting through May 2024. 

I am an experienced individual and group therapist, licensed in both Massachusetts and North Carolina, driven by my passion to help folks find the perspectives and tools to live more fulfilling, joyful lives, while also doing my part to de-stigmatize mental health.  When I'm not working with clients, I am usually doing something involving food: eating, watching, reading, cooking, trying new restaurants.  I also love traveling, bird watching, immersing myself in nature, kayaking, meditating, podcasts, tattoos, photography, exercising, and spending time with my wife, family, and mini bernedoodle, Macaroon.
